An inmate at an Oklahoma jail was fatally shot on Saturday after he took a corrections officer hostage.

The incident came about at round 4:22pm on the tenth ground of the Oklahoma County Detention Centre, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned in a press release.

The inmate took the officer hostage whereas employees members had been distributing remedy to prisoners, with Sheriff Tommie Johnson III saying that the inmate “overran the officer,” earlier than taking his keys and tying him up.

After the officer was taken hostage, the jail was positioned on lockdown for round two hours, whereas different employees members tried to cope with the scenario.

The unidentified inmate used the officer’s keys to launch a number of different prisoners from their cells, with authorities claiming that lots of them helped within the hostage-taking on Saturday.
